Today in Concord!

TODAY in Concord! In advance of Sunday’s memorial tribute to Lincoln, the First Parish Church bell will ring at 3:15p.m. today, signaling the end of the Civil War 150 years ago.

Author Rick Frese will be one of the participants in Sunday’s commemoration of Abraham Lincoln and the end of the Civil War at First Parish Church.

Sunday, April 12, 2015, 3:00 pm
In April of 1865, Concord mourned the assassination of President Lincoln with a memorial service at First Parish in Concord featuring a eulogy by Ralph Waldo Emerson.
Please join The Transcendentalism Council as we commemorate this historic anniversary
with:
 Ministerial Intern Brian Chenowith
 Concord historian Rick Frese reading from Emerson’s eulogy
 Author Polly Peterson, and historian Richard Smith of The Thoreau Society
 Award-winning pianist Jacqueline Schwab (Ken Burns’ Civil War, Baseball, and
Mark Twain).
